Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior that one person uses to gain and maintain power and control over another person. Tactics that abusers use include:

• Physical violence,
• sexual violence,
• financial abuse
• psychological
• emotional abuse

Domestic violence can happen to anyone - regardless of gender, sex, age, race, religion, ability, sexual orientation, nationality or economic status.

• Depression
• suicidal thoughts & attempts
• drug use & drug abuse
• aggression
• PTSD

Healthy relationships can be possible if;

• each person is supportive of what the other is interested in
• each encourages the other to do new things
• each person shares and each person listens
• each person has her or his own opinion and it’s okay if they’re not the same
• each person gives the other space when it’s needed
• each person has her or his own interests

Children can be silent witnesses to acts of tremendous horror. They feel the tension. Children are molded by trauma and the memories stay with them for the rest of their lives. Living in fear can cause learning disabilities in children.

The Impacts on Children can cause;

• Neglect

• Low Self esteem

• Hurting themselves or others
