About Us
The Bering Sea Women's Group Mission is to provide a safe haven for women, children and men who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or other violent crimes while promoting a safe, healthy and violence-free community. Our services are trauma-informed and we are guided by our core values of Hope, Respect and Dignity.
BSWG provides immediate response to domestic violence and sexual assault by providing safe shelter and meals, safety planning, referrals, legal advocacy, personal advocacy, travel support and medical advocacy. Crisis intervention is also provided through the operation of a toll-free 24-hour crisis line at the BSWG four-bedroom group living home. BSWG sponsors Safe Homes in five Bering Strait villages communities and a Safe Home for Men in Nome.
BSWG collaborates and coordinates with many local entities to meet the needs of victims of domestic violence and to provide prevention education.
